How Are You Supposed To Have Sex With A Mermaid?
Have you ever wondered how all those guys in the old stories had sex with mermaids? Deadprogrammer has the answer — namely, there was once supposed to be a bawdy two-tailed mermaid called a melusine:
If she looks familiar, it’s because you’ve seen her thousands of times before. She’s in the Starbucks logo, although over time she’s been sanitized, sterilized, covered up, de-belly-buttoned, liposuctioned, and (the ultimate indignity) ruthlessly cropped.

You know, I personally see mermaids as representing the unattainable; alluring beauty, invitation, but you can’t have it. So not having any sort of functional genitalia is part if this.
sucks to be a mermaid! now i know why the little mermaid was fixated on becoming human!!!
“look at this stuff, isn’t it neat?”
Has a whole different meaning now, don’t it?
Wasn’t this obliquely addressed in an episode of Futurama?
More than their ability to have sex, though, is how they go to the bathroom. I mean, I’ve seen The Little Mermaid, and they show her from the front and the back, and unless she can zip down that tail a little bit, she’s got no way to poo.
That’s gotta be really uncomfortable…
in many old illustrations, single tailed mermaid’s fishy parts started just below her lady parts.
hah, and as an artist, i have also illustrated that futurama concept of tha fish part on top and the lady part on the bottom.
The coffee logo underwent several morphs after the company received complaints that the sexy bare breasts (pictured above), were corrupting young men by, one must presume, filling them with uncontrollable lust. According to a televised story on Starbucks, the original logo is still used at their original Seattle, Washington store…
Seattle must be more liberal than other American cities…
I’m from seattle and yeah we are a bit more liberal and yet not at the same time. Even as a kid I wondered how the merpeople reproduced… now I know I’m not alone.
How did the song go? “She was only a fishmonger’s daughter, but she could lay on the slab and say ‘fillet'”
heres a thing thats got both logos side by side
