The Cruelty Of Women
There is a meme out there — perhaps a myth — that women are more sexually cruel than men. I tend to doubt it myself, but I’m thinking that BDSM artist Leon Frollo may have believed it:

I think it was Camille Paglia who quoted some notes the Marquis De Sade made about future writtings. In one of them he describes various tortures he wants to inflict on his hapless victim, finishing with a torment by needles: “The needles are heated!”
As Paglia points out, by the time one of de Sade’s characters gets you in his clutches, heating the needles is the least of your problems.
Perhaps it’s just me but the needlee looks like Diana of Themyscira (Wonder Woman), or at least a vintage comic-book version of her. There was a Lot of tying people up and spanking them on those books!
Odd, Bacchus: I usually run into the opposite meme.
I’ve often wondered if memes are unevenly distributed in various ways. We start to see this in politics with talk of “bubbles” that people inhabit where they seem to only hear the memes they already tend to agree with. Could there be gender-based mimetic bubbles? Might I hear memes in my male-gendered mimetic bubble, that differ from the memes women are encountering in their female-gendered mimetic bubble?
It would be hard to prove — but it wouldn’t be unduly surprising.
Or maybe I just spent far too much time looking at and reading M-dom erotica and pornography, haha.
