Taking away the freedoms that online communications of a sexual nature allows, pushes women back to a greater dependency on pimps. Congress, being mostly male dominated, seems to be focused on legislation maintaining control over women’s lives…

Whiplash, you’re not wrong. But I’m afraid in this case it’s nothing so sinister. I doubt most congressMEN had enough nuanced understanding of the issues to even understand what they were doing in this case; they just bought the bullshit anti-trafficking narrative and thought they were signing a law against pimps advertising little girls on Craigslist. (Yes, I know, don’t at me. That’s how malign the narrative was, and that’s how “series of tubes” ignorant Congress mostly is.)
