The Good Wife Project
One of the many things I miss from the heyday of porn on Tumbler was a loose association of swingers, adventurers, exhibitionists, and amateur porn enthusiasts who shared pictures like the one above. I no longer remember whether the name “Good Wife Project” was a specific Tumblr, or a tag that was shared across a group of like-minded posters and sites. The common theme was point-of-view shots of grown-ass women, enthusiastic blowjobs, sticky faces, and posing/staging that didn’t look like commercial porn.
I did an awful lot of right-click-save-as slipshod curation in those days, but in hindsight, nothing like enough. And of course, I’d have been an awful lot better off focusing on crawling and capturing entire tumblrs. They didn’t usually have much metadata, but sometimes there was a little bit.
Am I not grateful for the crawling and capturing that the Internet Archive did? Of course. But it’s appalling how incomplete those crawls are, and how many images were not captured, especially in the earlier years. No shade; a crawl like that is an enormous, resource-expensive and somewhat adversarial undertaking. I prefer to celebrate what the Archive did capture rather than lament what they didn’t.

Yes, Tumbler was great back in the day! Since so much of the internet is driven by porn, I wonder how well they are doing today?
I have to say that you have really hit on something here.
I honestly can’t stand most porn made today, It has become pretty much a self parody. Full lips are pretty, so let’s make every woman’s lips look like they are inflated with something. Boobs? Huge and sticking straight out. Cocks? Monstrous and as hard as Gibraltar. And so on. Almost looks AI generated.
Obviously, I have my turn ons, but in general a woman who actually looks like someone I might see somewhere (hopefully coming out of a beauty parlor) is a real turn on to me. And the fact that she is probably doing this because she really, really enjoys it just takes it over the top.
Well, it’s certainly not my discovery. For as long as there has been internet porn, there’s a been a thriving semi-underground subculture of non-commercial and semi-commercial porn sharing featuring “real people” instead of overstyled models. For years it was called “amateur” and posted mainly to forums and Usenet, then for awhile it was on blogs, then Tumblr blew up real big and it was mostly on Tumblr, and now with the decline of the open web and the creeping pornocalypse eating social media I’m honestly not sure where it is, but I’m real damn sure it’s still out there. It’s a form of digital exhibitionism that a lot of couples really enjoy, a thrill somewhat short of swinging that pushes some of the same buttons.
