The Best Pit Stop
The male motorists along this stretch of highway have favorite places to buy gasoline. This is one of them, and it’s not hard to see why:
I don’t have any provenance for these photos except to say they they are probably European, judging by the unfamiliar licence numbering scheme. They were in an old vintage-photos download folder of mine, probably via Usenet a dozen or more years ago. I’m hoping someone will recognize the auto or the license (or the woman or the photographer) and help me narrow it down to a country at least.

This looks like the old French license plate numbering scheme, which was used from 1950 to 2009. The 34 indicates the Département Hérault in the South of France, and the license plate was apparently issued before February 1969 (when they switched to 4 leading digits instead of 3 as shown here). The two letters in the middle were issued in alphabetical order, starting with AA in 1950, and in February 1969 they had reached QA. So the plates were probably issued at some time in the 1960ies. The car seems to be a Renault Dauphine, which was built from 1956 to 1968.
Awesome information, thank you so much!
